Ulysse Nardin teamed up with designer Vsevolod Sever Cherepanov, aka Amoureuxpeintre, on a ‘frosted-ice’ version of the Blast Skeleton X. Rooted in Cherepanov’s passion for unorthodox yet restrained design, the Blast [Amoureuxpeintre] features a blurred sapphire dial beneath anthracite hands coated with grey Super-LumiNova. The dial’s frosted effect was created using an advanced laser etching and thin metallization technique that took two years to develop. Inspired by the frosted glass panes used to partition office cubicles and work spaces, the semitransparent dial subtly exposes the outlines of the skeletonized Calibre UN-371 movement. The movement is also visible through the co-branded, frosted sapphire caseback. As a finishing touch, the anthracite PVD coating on the 42-mm case and bezel complements the watch’s muted color palette and minimalist design.
