Since 2016, Hublot has celebrated each Chinese New Year with a special edition Spirit of Big Bang dedicated to the corresponding animal in the Chinese zodiac. This year Hublot draws inspiration from the timeless symbolism of the serpent. Long associated with wisdom, charm and transformation, the snake holds a special place in Chinese mythology. The new Spirit of Big Bang Year of the Snake offers an ornate interpretation of this traditional symbol with a gold-plated snake slithering across the openwork dial. Coiled around the subdials, the three-dimensional figurine was crafted with lifelike details and engraved with remarkable precision using cutting-edge laser technology. The 42-mm black ceramic case is topped by a screwed ceramic bezel engraved with a snake scale pattern. This pattern is repeated on the black rubber strap, which has a velvety finish and a slight shimmer, even though it’s made of a single piece of rubber. Hublot’s automatic skeleton chronograph calibre HUB4700 is visible through the open dial and the exhibition case back.
