Watch Porn: IWC’s New Ingenieur Automatic 40 Rocks A Striking Blue Dial

IWC Schaffhausen just expanded its Ingenieur collection with a new 40-mm watch featuring a striking blue dial. Introduced last year, the Ingenieur Automatic 40 reflects the aesthetic codes of renowned Geneva watch designer Gérald Genta, who was tasked with re-designing the model in the 1970s. Based on Genta’s original design, the modern Ingenieur features the ergonomics and finishing of a versatile luxury sports watch. It is distinguished by the characteristic bezel with five functional screws, an integrated bracelet and a special dial pattern.

The Ingenieur Automatic 40 (Ref. IW328907) features a case, bezel and integrated H-link bracelet made of stainless steel. The blue dial features the collection’s distinctive ‘grid’ structure, consisting of lines and squares stamped into the soft iron base at 90 degree angles. Afterwards, the blue color is applied with a PVD coating. Rhodium-plated hands and markers are filled with Super-LumiNova to ensure legibility in low light. IWC’s in-house 32111 calibre powers the watch. Converting movement into energy for the mainspring, it reliably builds up a power reserve of 120 hours. In keeping with the technical heritage of the Ingenieur, a soft-iron inner case shields the movement from the effects of magnetic fields on the watch’s rate.
