Watch Porn: Oris’s New Coulson Limited Edition Is Fire

Oris’s new partnership with Coulson Aviation is a natural fit. The Swiss watchmaker started making pilot’s watches in 1910 at the dawn of modern aviation. Today, Oris’s signature model is the Big Crown, a pilot’s watch first introduced in 1938 that continues to influence the collection. Based in Canada, family-run Coulson sends pilots, planes and equipment around the world to assist firefighters on the ground, safeguard lives and protect the environment. This aviation connection cements the partnership and inspired the Big Crown ProPilot Coulson Limited Edition. Its most striking feature is a fiery, gradient orange dial, a nod to the perilous working conditions of Coulson’s pilots. Its most innovative feature is the ultra-lightweight 41-mm carbon fiber case surrounding the dial, produced using a patented 3D printing process never used before in watchmaking. The case is finished with a PVD-plated titanium bezel, screw-down crown and exhibition case back. Oris’s anti-magnetic five-day automatic Calibre 400 is visible through the case back’s sapphire glass. Limited to 1,000 pieces, the watch weighs just 65 grams – movement included.
