Zenith is launching an exclusive collection of Defy Extreme Carbon watches dedicated to the second season of Extreme E, an all-electric off-road racing series. The Swiss brand will issue a new, limited edition model for each of the season’s five races, starting with the Defy Extreme E Desert X Prix Edition. Crafted from carbon fiber and titanium, the 45-mm chronograph incorporates upcycled elements from the season’s first race held in Al-‘Ula, Saudi Arabia. The yellow rubber strap, its black rubber central element and the case lid coating are all made with recycled car tires from last years race, while the plate covering is made from leftover racing tarpaulin. Yellow, the official color of the Desert X Prix, also accents the multi-layered skeletonized dial. The high-frequency chronograph calibre, offering 1/100th of a second measurements, is partially visible through the open work dial and sapphire display back – stamped with the Desert X Prix logo. Made in a limited edition of 20 pieces, each watch comes with two additional straps in black rubber and black Velcro.
