Helmut Lang, the pioneering minimalist who left his eponymous label 15 years ago, turned everyday staples into luxury items with an intellectual rigor and curiosity seldom seen in fashion. Since taking the helm of the label, creative directors Mark Thomas and Thomas Cawson have been faithful to Lang’s methodology and style signatures: urbane, modern and utilitarian.
The designers bring this faithful approach to the new MYKITA x HELMUT LANG collaboration. The capsule introduces an oversized, minimalist wraparound ‘sunshield’ design with paneled lenses on the front and sides. Crafted in Germany from lightweight stainless steel, the square HL001 and HL002 aviators made their debut at the Helmut Lang SS2020 fashion show during New York fashion week.
