Drake’s X The Rake Capsule

Is the new Drake’s X The Rake capsule collection boldly experimental? No. It’s basically a brown corduroy suit. An exquisitely crafted, three button, patch pocket, tobacco colored cotton corduroy suit made in Italy. To go with the suit The Rake’s Ben St. George and Drake’s Creative Director Michael Hill designed an oxford shirt and cashmere blend tie. Made in Somerset, England, the classic button-down shirt is cut from lightweight cotton oxford with a pink and blue stripe and finished with mother of pearl buttons. The square-ended tie is a shaggy blend of cashmere and silk that has the appearance and feel of a plush terry towel. “Four decades into the tie-making business, it’s very gratifying to still be experimenting with new ideas and I think the terry cloth tie is certainly a first for us!” says Hill. “It’s not a formal tie by any means: it’s whimsical and lighthearted, perfectly complementing the character so inherent in the corduroy suit. That being said, the terry cloth is actually a blend of silk and cashmere, so that sense of luxury is still there. It actually ties a fantastic knot and looks great on – like a classic silk knit with some added texture.”
