Todd Snyder Spring Summer 2014

This Spring Todd Snyder’s classic American aesthetic will be taking a Mediterranean holiday. Inspired by the René Clément film Purple Noon (the original film version of The Talented Mr. Ripley), Snyder called the collection Côte d’Azur. “It’s for the rebellious, sophisticated guy who likes to travel and cares about how he looks, but has a casual sense of style,” Snyder told WWD. The European inflection was evident in the slimmer fit and his uncharacteristic embrace of pattern and texture. These subtle changes may be lost on those unfamiliar with the brand but they reveal Snyder’s true strengths as a designer; his ability to design clothes that are as popular with shoppers as they are with editors and his ability to move his brand aesthetic forward without leaving his original customers behind.
