Giro cycling will launch a line of commuter and cycling wear this spring. The Giro New Road performance apparel line will be designed by Alex Valdeman, best known for working with Levi’s to develop their Commuter line and with Kanye West on his collections. The New Road line will incorporate select technical fabrics, treatments and techniques along with merino wool, the original performance fabric.
“Cycling is going through a period of rapid change, both as a sport and as a cultural movement,” said Greg Shapleigh, Giro Senior Vice President. “Bikes, and even cities, are matching this evolution, but cycling apparel hasn’t kept up. With Giro New Road, we have created a new kind of clothing line that recognizes that cycling is more than just a race.”
The Giro New Road collection will be sold through select retailers in North America, Germany and Switzerland and www.giro.com beginning March 2013.
