Patek Philippe just introduced its first new watch collection in 25 years. The Cubitus collection draws inspiration from the stylized geometric shapes the Art Deco period. This influence is evident in the square-shaped case with rounded corners, and the dial adorned with horizontal relief embossing. Patek is launching the collection with three 45-mm models, the Reference 5822P-001 in platinum with a moon phase complication, the Reference 5821/1A-001 in steel with an olive dial, and the two-tone Reference 5821/1AR-001 in steel and rose gold with a blue dial.
The all-new platinum Cubitus model, Reference 5822 ($88,380.00), combines instantaneous day, date, and moon-phase indications on a blue sunburst dial. The large-format date is displayed through a twin aperture at 12 o’clock, complemented by a small asymmetric subsidiary seconds counter at 4:30, and the coaxial day and moon-phase indications positioned at 7 o’clock. To enable these complications while maintaining the elegance of a slimline case, Patek developed the new ultra-thin self-winding caliber 240 PS CI J LU. Based on the renowned caliber 240, this new movement has six patent applications pending.
The Cubitus Reference 5821/1A-001 ($41,240.00) features an olive-green sunburst dial enclosed in a 45-mm steel case fitted to a matching steel bracelet, with alternating polished and satin-brushed finishes. The dial – enhanced with horizontal relief embossing – sports baton-style hour markers and baton-style hour/minute hands fashioned in white gold with white luminescent inserts. An inlaid white gold frame decorates the date aperture at 3 o’clock. At the heart of this new model beats the caliber 26-330 S C self-winding movement.
The vintage touches of the two-tone Cubitus Reference 5821/1AR-001 ($61,280.00) include a remarkably slim rose-gold and steel case (8.3-mm profile) fitted to a matching bracelet. With its two-part construction and screw-down crown, the case is certified water-resistant to a depth of 30 meters. The blue dial features horizontal embossing with a sunburst finish, rose gold hands and markers with white lume inserts, and an inlaid date aperture at 3 o’clock framed in rose gold. This model also features a stop-seconds mechanism powered by the caliber 26-330 S C self-winding movement, a derivative of the base caliber 26-330 introduced in 2019.
