Seiko teamed up with Porter Classic for the latest addition to its Presage Craftsmanship Series. Established in 2007 by Katsuyuki and Leo Yoshida, Porter Classic produces apparel and accessories in Japan using traditional techniques, exceptional materials and modern designs. Katsuyuki Yoshida’s passion for pocket watches and early 20th-century Seiko designs inspired the collaboration.
Taking cues from Seiko’s 1913 Laurel, the first wristwatch produced in Japan, the Porter Classic Collaboration Limited Edition features the same delicately shaped hands, set on a black enamel dial. The dial’s Arabic numerals are printed in white using the original font, and the 24-hour sub-dial at six o’clock occupies the same dial position as the seconds hand on the original Laurel. The circular 35-mm steel case mimics the proportions of traditional pocket watches, while the movable rounded lugs resemble pocket watch bows.
Presented in a jūbako-style box, the watch is fitted to a pull-through black cordovan leather strap developed especially for this collaboration. The tiered box can hold the watch and an addition brown leather strap. Both straps have more holes than is standard, allowing for a wider range of adjustments. Limited to 500 pieces.
