Watch Porn: Audemars Piguet’s Ground-Breaking New Royal Oak Concept

Crafted from color forged carbon, the Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date model combines lightness with resistance to shocks, heat and humidity.

After an eight year hiatus, Audemars Piguet is back in the carbon fiber watchmaking business. The new Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date model features a pioneering color forged carbon case developed in-house by AP’s R&D teams. Audemars Piguet’s Chroma Forged Technology (CFT) makes it possible to color the carbon fibers directly and arrange them as desired in the compound produced, opening up new creative possibilities. This non-porous, deep black carbon material also provides unprecedented resistance to heat, humidity, and shocks. Its manufacturing process is now protected by a patent.

The ultra-light 43-mm case of this Royal Oak Concept features blue luminescent pigments, complemented by a black ceramic crown, bezel, pushers and caseback. The case and crown are slightly curved to follow the natural shape of the wrist. Echoing the glow-in-the-dark blue fibers of the case, the black openwork dial is enhanced by electric blue accents alongside black counters, lume filled white gold hour-markers and hands with luminescent coatings. It’s powered by AP’s self-winding Calibre 4407, a movement that combines flyback chronograph, split-seconds chronograph, large date and 24h GMT functions.
