Breitling used the backdrop of this year’s Wheels & Waves festival in Biarritz to launch its latest collaboration with Australian surf-and-motorcycle outfitter Deus Ex Machina. The Top Time B01 Deus features a co-branded black dial with three white sub-dials and a red lightning-bolt-shaped chronograph hand. A speed-measuring tachymeter scale, printed on a white background alongside the adage In benzin veritas, circles the edge of the dial. The ‘squircle’ sub-dials – not quite square, not quite round, and similar to vintage dashboard gauges – combined with the perforated leather racing strap give the watch a retro feel. Made of stainless steel, it’s powered by Breitling’s Caliber 01 and has an impressive 70-hour power reserve.
