Bremont’s new Limited Edition MB Viper is a concept watch brought to life. The prototype was developed to test Bremont’s ENG300 movement using simulations of the most extreme conditions endured by fighter pilots, from ‘zoom temperature’ fluctuations to live ejection testing. Designed in collaboration with Martin-Baker, a British engineering firm responsible for supplying 70% of the world’s Air Forces with ejection seat tech, the test watch performed so well during the HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) phase the brands put it into production. The unique shape of the watch originates from a special anti-shock mount engineered by Bremont to secure the movement while Martin-Baker conducted the tests. Crafted from grade 5 titanium, the lightweight 43.5-mm case features a protective carbon coating, scratch resistant sapphire crystal and an orange anodized aluminum bezel secured with 4 Torx screws. Green emission Super-LumiNova fills the tips of the striped hour and minute hands, and the square hour markers circling the white metal dial. With the sweeping seconds in red, the colors and chevron pattern on the central hands are a direct reference to the pull handles used on Martin-Baker’s fighter ejection seats.
