Drake’s just launched its first collaboration with Michelin starred restaurant St. JOHN. The original home of ‘Nose to Tail Eating’ opened in a former bacon smokehouse around the corner from London’s Smithfield Meat Market in 1994. St. JOHN founders Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver are long-time customers of Drake’s and inspired key elements of the collection. The lineup includes cotton moleskin chore jackets based on Fergus Henderson’s emblematic striped suiting and blue de travail jackets, made from fabrics custom-woven in UK mills. The moleskin Tasting Gilet is Drake’s interpretation of the waistcoat that Trevor Gulliver wears at wine tastings, vineyards visits and on his travels, with ample pockets for notepads, corkscrews, and boarding passes. In a nod to a phrase Fergus coined, NOSE TO TAIL appears on tote bags, caps and sweatshirts. Fergus’ doodles and scribbles, including an illustration of a wine-drinking drake, are embroidered on badges, polo shirts and sweatshirts. And a reimagined version the St. JOHN pig, jumping over a gate (escaping from the kitchen?), appears on cotton/silk bandanas, oxford cloth button-down shirts, a t-shirt and intarsia woven into Drake’s signature Shetland knitwear.
