For their latest collaboration with adidas, British retailer END. produced a trio of sneakers inspired by the Bauhaus school of design. Staatliches Bauhaus was founded in 1919 by German architect Walter Gropius. Students were encouraged to create aesthetically pleasing utilitarian objects free of elaborate decoration, under the notion that form follows function. Bauhaus’ use of bold typography, block colors and strong architectural forms continues to influence contemporary design.
END. applied the movements principles to three classic adidas sneaker silhouettes, the Bermuda, Handball Spezial and ZX420. The END. x adidas ‘Bauhaus’ Bermuda ($105.00) features Team Yellow suede uppers with red and blue stripes, reflecting Bauhaus’ affinity for geometric shapes and layered forms. The Handball Spezial ($105.00) combines gold foil branding with plush Hazy Blue suede uppers accented with navy, red and yellow. Completing the pack is a muted twist on the ZX420 ($150.00) – a retro mesh runner overlaid with creamy suede and leather.
