TAG Heuer’s latest Carrera Chronograph is gold… literally. The 42-mm case is made of solid 18K 3N yellow gold, with gold pushers and crown. The theme continues with a brand-new black and gold tricompax dial design, an inverted version of the sought-after Heuer reference 1158 CHN. Standing out against the deep black dial are gilded sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock and a permanent second indicator above a date window at 6 o’clock. The hands and indexes are plated in 18K 3N yellow gold and polished to enhance legibility. Turning the watch over reveals a clear case back offering a view of the custom oscillating mass and in-house movement. With its vertical clutch and column wheel, the Calibre Heuer 02 provides timekeeping precision and performance along with an 80 hour power reserve. Formula 1 aficionados will recognize the two-tone John Player Special palette as a throwback to Lotus racing cars from the 1970s and 80s. F1 champion and TAG ambassador Ayrton Senna’s 98T Lotus sported the famous gold and black livery at the beginning of his brilliant career.
