Zenith just unveiled the second edition of its Extreme E watch collection. Inspired by the FIA-sanctioned off-road racing series, each of the five watches in the collection reflect the individual courses in 2022 Extreme E season. The DEFY Extreme E “Island X Prix” has an open-work dial with tinted sapphire crystal elements, three subdials and orange accents – the official color of the season’s second electric rally race in Sardinia, Italy. Made of carbon fiber with titanium elements, the 45-mm case is secured by an orange Velcro strap made from recycled tires. Emphasizing the angular geometry of the case, the pusher protectors and the twelve-sided bezel are made of micro-blasted titanium. The El Primero 21 1/100th calibre – the fastest automatic high-frequency chronograph movement in production – is partially visible through the dial. The movement is also visible through the sapphire display back, emblazoned with the Island X Prix logo in orange and white.
