I used to go to the gym, but… I realized the reason I don’t go anymore was because I didn’t have anything I enjoyed wearing. I don’t like the slippery feel of synthetic fabrics, so I have to work out at home in my underwear. That’s why I wanted to create sportswear I want to wear. – Hiroki Nakamura
Hiroki Nakamura’s Visvim Sport isn’t the typical assortment of quick-dry poly togs that define modern activewear. It’s ‘utility wear suitable for exercise and outdoor activity’ according to the man himself. The pieces are made form breathable natural textiles with exceptional insulating and wicking properties, like wool – the original performance fiber. Before the emergence of synthetic fabrics in the 1940s, sportswear was made from wool. The fabric used in the new Visvim Sport x Union line is made from 17.5 microns of New Zealand raw wool, a rare material that is soft to the touch while remaining dense and sturdy. Lightweight enough to wear year-round, the hoodies, tees, shorts and beanies are finished with a tonal Union chain stitch.
