In 2019, adventurer Victor Vescovo piloted his submersible Limiting Factor to a World Record depth of 10,935 m (35,876 ft) at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Omega’s Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep Professional went along for the ride. The specially designed timepiece was strapped to the outside of the submersible and resurfaced unscathed after the 12-hour dive. Today, the ground-breaking Ultra Deep has been reformatted into a new retail collection of 45.5 mm diving watches. The Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep lineup is water-resistant to a game-changing 6,000 meters (20,000 feet). Six of the watches are made with O-MEGASTEEL, a stainless steel alloy that’s brighter, stronger and more corrosion resistant. Omega also included a titanium model with a sand-blasted case, brushed black ceramic bezel ring and NATO strap. All the watches are powered by Omega’s Calibre 8912, a Master Chronometer certified to the highest standard of precision, performance and magnetic-resistance.
