When Red Bull’s Max Verstappen passed Lewis Hamilton during the final lap of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he secured his first World Drivers’ Championship. This was the first time in seven years that a Mercedes F1 driver didn’t finish the season as world champion, and Red Bull’s first series title since 2013. To celebrate Verstappen’s milestone victory TAG Heuer issued a brand-new version of the Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Special Edition chronograph. As the teams official timekeeper, TAG worked closely with Red Bull to ensure the new design incorporated RBR’s red, yellow and blue color palette. Inside the 43-mm stainless steel case, the new sunray brushed blue dial features a yellow central seconds hand and a 1/10 second chronograph counter at 6 o’clock with red and yellow details. Luminous Arabic numeral reference race car speedometers, while the lines above 5 and 7 recall the starting line of an F1 track. In a nod to F1 fans, the blue aluminum tachymeter bezel is engraved with the word SPEED and the case back is engraved with RBR’s official team graphic.
