Watch Porn: Oris Marks 60th Anniversary Of ‘The Monkey King’ With New Aquis Diver

Oris marks the 60th anniversary of the classic animated film The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven with a limited-edition version of the Aquis Date diver’s watch. A legendary figure from the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West, the Monkey King – Sun Wukong in Mandarin – acquires supernatural powers through Taoist practices. After rebelling against heaven Buddha imprisons him under a mountain for five hundred years. In exchange for his freedom Sun Wukong offers to serve a Buddhist monk on a pilgrimage to the West (India). On the journey Sun Wukong acquires several weapons, including a red pillar with golden tips (Ruyi Bang) that transforms into a staff used to fight his enemies. The Oris Sun Wukong Limited Edition includes design elements inspired by this classic Chinese fable.

Limited to 2,000 pieces, it has a 41.5-mm stainless steel case topped by a rotating bezel framing a cobalt blue dial with a date window at six o’clock and luminescent hands and markers. The dial’s golden-tipped red seconds hand recalls the Monkey King’s magical staff. To express how fast he spins it in battle, Oris added an abstract repeating pattern of blues that diminish and return in size and color to suggest constant motion. Inside the case is the Oris 733, an automatic mechanical movement that powers the ‘spinning’ central seconds hand. As a final tribute, the steel case back is engraved with the head of Sun Wukong and his magical staff.
