Breitling is leaning in. Long associated with aviation and topflight pilot’s watches, the new Breitling Super AVI collection was inspired by four legendary planes: the North American Aviation P-51 Mustang, the Vought F4U Corsair, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, and the de Havilland Mosquito. While reflecting the individual characteristics of each aircraft, the four distinct models in the collection share one through line. They all take design cues from Breitling’s Ref. 765 AVI pilot’s watch introduced in 1953. An instant hit with professional aviators, it quickly became known as the Co-Pilot. Powered by the Breitling B04 self-winding mechanical movement, the Super AVI watches have bidirectional bezels, luminescent markers, and sapphire crystal case backs engraved with the silhouette of the corresponding aircraft.

A tribute to the best all-around fighter plane of the ‘40s and ‘50s, the Super AVI P-51 Mustang comes in two distinct versions: a stainless-steel case ($10,100.00) with a black dial and gold-brown leather strap (top of page), and an 18 k red gold version ($23,650.00) with an anthracite dial and a black leather strap.
The Super AVI Tribute to Vought F4U Corsair ($10,100.00) features a blue dial, tone-on-tone chronograph counters, and a black leather strap that take their design cues from the characteristic livery of the record-breaking naval aircraft.
With its army green dial, white contrasting chronograph counters and red accents, the Super AVI Curtiss Warhawk ($10,100.00) plays on its namesake’s famous shark-mouth nose art that gave the plane its unmistakable identity.
The Super AVI Mosquito ($10,250.00) features a combination polished and satin-brushed black ceramic bezel and a black dial with white contrasting chronograph counters. Its red and orange elements recall the roundels and markings found on the versatile plane, dubbed the “Wooden Wonder”.
