Earlier this year Hublot released the Big Bang Unico Berluti Cold Brown. Despite its name, the watche bezel, dial and strap feature warm, smoky brown leather with a light patina. For their latest collaboration Hublot and Berluti are switching direction, working in cool, monochrome shades of grey. The new Big Bang Unico Berluti Aluminio “reflects the smooth, satin tones of the concrete that adorns the greatest cities” according to Ricardo Guadalupe, Hublot CEO. “Understated but technical, monochrome but packed with nuance, it explores some very minimalist creative ground that we are not used to traveling.”
Aluminio is one of Berluti’s signature patinas. Aluminio Venezia leather features on the polished titanium bezel as well as on the dial, where the indices and words Swiss Made are embossed directly on the leather surface. Inside the 44-mm titanium case, the gears of the Unico movement – an in-house self-winding Flyback chronograph with three full days of power reserve – are visible through the two sapphire glass panels that hold the leather on the dial. Limited to 100 pieces, the watch has a burnished Aluminio Venezia leather strap and comes in a special case with a separate co-branded travel pouch and commemorative Berluti shoehorn key ring.
