Adidas’ Stan Smith Mylo Is The First Shoe Made With New Leather Substituent

By creating the iconic Stan Smith with a MYLO material upper, Adidas is demonstrating the far-reaching potential of this innovative material. – Jamie Bainbridge, VP of Product at Bolt Threads

Adidas’ Stan Smith Mylo is the first-ever shoe made with a new mushroom-based leather substitute. Soft, supple and fully renewable, Bolt Threads developed Mylo material using the underground roots of mushrooms – mycelium – grown in less than two weeks by utilizing a cutting-edge vertical agriculture technique. While the midsole of the shoe is made with natural rubber, the outer upper, perforated 3 stripes logo and heel tab overlay stamped with the Mylo logo are all crafted from the game-changing mushroom-based unleather. Coming soon to adidas.com.
