Fred Perry is collaborating with multimedia band Gorillaz on a new campaign. Part of a larger promotional effort to mark the 20th anniversary of its self-titled debut album, the ‘Gorillaz takeover’ ads feature the virtual band members modeling their favorite Made in England Fred Perry Shirts on billboards in major cities around the world. 2-D sports the Original M3, while Russel Hobbs, Noodle and Murdoc chose the Original M12 polo shirt for ads running in the heart of London, Tokyo, Stockholm, Seoul, New York, Madrid, Berlin, Manila, and Dubai.
“My first Fred Perry shirt wasn’t actually mine, it belonged to Arthur Ashe. Like a cross between Barack Obama and Denzel Washington…he was an artist… he had style, he had an afro, he wore a pair of tiny shorts – and, of course, the classic Fred Perry tennis shirt…” – Russel Hobbs
