Watch Porn: Audemars Piguet Upgrades Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph With Latest Generation Movement

Audemars Piguet gave the 2021 Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph a major upgrade. This is the first Royal Oak model powered by the Selfwinding Manufacture Calibre 4401, the latest generation chronograph movement. Housed in a 41mm 18-carat pink gold case, the movement features a column wheel and flyback function that enables the chronograph to restart without stopping or resetting first. The column wheel works in collaboration with a vertical clutch system. When the chronograph starts or stops, the hands respond accordingly without any hint of jumping.

This is also the first Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph fitted with a sapphire caseback. Along with a view of the chronograph’s column wheel and hammers, the transparent back puts the 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight and refined finishing on full display. Modified to accommodate the new movement, the case now has a slightly thicker height of 12.4 mm. On the dial, the positions of the minute and hour counters have been reversed, while the date disc is now closer to the inner bezel. All four models feature a “Grande Tapisserie” pattern with pink gold-toned counters, hands and hour-markers on the dial. Available with a matching 18-carat pink gold bracelet or a color-coordinated alligator strap.
