Watch Porn: Maharishi’s Royal Marine 1950 Takes Design Ques From Marlon Brando’s Apocalypse Now Rolex

The Rolex GMT-Master ref. 1675 worn by Marlon Brando in Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now inspired Maharishi’s new 9371 Royal Marine 1950 watch. Brando was asked to remove the Rolex during filming because it wasn’t appropriate for his character, Colonel Kurtz. As a compromise Brando removed the bezel to disguise the watch, and a star (timepiece) was born.

Produced in collaboration with Watch Experiment Unit, the Royal Marine 1950 has a vintage feel with an aged dial inside the steel case. The ‘M. Rishi’ signature on the case-back mirrors the ‘M. Brando’ marking on the back of the original watch, hand-engraved by Marlon Brando himself. Each limited edition watch comes in a specially designed box with interchangeable olive and black Mil-Spec nylon straps, spare pins and a watch tool.
