Omega created two new De Ville Prestige timepieces commemorating the companies ongoing partnership with Orbis International and its fight against preventable blindness. Since 2011, Omega and Orbis have worked together to deliver high-level eye care to some of the world’s most remote regions. Doctors from the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital provide a cuddly teddy bear to every young patient. The teddy bear helps doctors explain the surgery and comforts the children during this life-changing treatment. Following the procedure, the teddy will have an eye patch matching the bandages worn by the young patients. The Orbis Teddy Bear has become a playful symbol of the partnership.
The 40mm stainless steel men’s version of the De Ville Trésor Orbis Edition is equipped with the in-house Co-Axial Chronometer Calibre 8511. The sun-brushed and lacquered blue dial features steel hands and indicators along with a seconds hand varnished in Orbis blue. As a playful reference to the teddies given to the children, an Orbis Teddy Bear replaces the number 8 on the date indicator. The watch comes on an embossed blue leather strap. Omega donates a portion of the proceeds from each timepiece sold to Orbis International and its Flying Eye Hospital.
