The new Tom Ford 002 Ocean Plastic Watch is the first luxury timepiece made entirely from plastic. Specifically, the 40mm case, interchangeable braided strap and presentation box contain no virgin plastics. All of the materials were reclaimed from the sea, coastlines and uncontrolled landfills – and are traceable to the collection source. Inside the case, Super-LumiNova coated numerals and hands top a matte black dial. The black DLC-coated stainless steel case-back and crown (with ocean plastic inlay) are the only exterior pieces not made with ocean plastic. Each of the Swiss-made quartz watches removes the equivalent of 35 plastic bottles of waste from our ecosystem. Ford took additional steps to make the production process carbon neutral by offsetting the transportation of the ocean plastic granules and using solar energy to power the manufacturing.
