In May 2020, Swiss watchmaker Hublot celebrated the grand opening of its new Tokyo flagship by releasing the Big Bang GMT All Black Yohji Yamamoto. Monochrome designs, especially in black, have been a Yamamoto signature over the course of his 50 year career. While black underpins the collections, his abstract prints, avant-garde runway shows and daring themes set the tone for his latest collaboration with Hublot.
The theme of the Big Bang Camo Yohji Yamamoto watch harks back to previous print heavy menswear collections, including Fall/Winter 2014. Released as a limited edition of 200 pieces, the watches 45mm case is cut from matte black ceramic. The dial features Yamamoto’s signature at 6 o’clock on top of a camouflage pattern that is repeated on the strap – where each of the color patches in the camo outline was cut out individually, assembled and fused together using a brand new vulcanization process. A second black fabric strap option is available. The watch runs on Hublot’s Unico movement, which produces a 72-hour power reserve.
Hublot Big Bang Camo Yohji Yamamoto ($22,800.00), available now exclusively in Japan. Worldwide release to follow. For more information to hublot.com.
