For a few years now, brands like Prada, Burberry, Dior and Fendi have offered men specialized versions of their handbag designs, tweaking materials and finishes to appeal to a masculine sensibility. For her Fall 2019 collection, Silvia Venturini Fendi – the woman responsible for igniting late 90s ‘it’ bag culture – took this a step further. Fendi collaborated with Japanese accessories brand Porter to create men’s editions of the Baguette and Peekaboo handbags. The capsule was made in Japan using Porter’s signature bonded nylon. Building on the success of this collaboration, Fendi is offering a supersized nylon Peekaboo as part of its men’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection. The new Fendi Peekaboo Iconic Large is a lightweight handbag made in Italy using padded, army green nylon trimmed with embossed suede and yellow leather. Big enough to hold a 15” laptop, the bag has a built-in briefcase handle and comes with a detachable shoulder strap – so you can call it a messenger bag if you’re not quite ready to show off your new Fendi handbag.
