Public School Teams w/ The Gordon Parks Foundation To Support Arts & Social Justice

Public School just released a series of unisex t-shirts featuring rarely seen images from the archives of seminal American photographer, writer and film director Gordon Parks. The three photographs – a 1941 self-portrait, a picture taken at Black Panther headquarters in 1970 and an image of Malcolm X from 1963 – appear on t-shirts sourced from Version Tomorrow, a PSNY program that supplies responsibly-made and environmentally conscious blanks. 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of these shirts ($75.00 each) will be donated to The Gordon Parks Arts and Social Justice Fund, which supports students and artists through annual scholarships, prizes, and fellowships.

The fact that his documentation of Black life, the racial divide, poverty, and social inequality in the US is as relevant today as it was 60 years ago is a sad one. It shouldn’t be lost on anyone that the struggle continues to haunt the legacy of this country. We selected Parks’ photographs of Malcolm X and the Black Panthers specifically because we have to fight for any and all justice, and that without justice there can no peace. – Public School
