The Filson Workshop just released a limited-edition collection of hand-tooled leather goods made with vegetable-tanned hides from Pennsylvania based Wickett & Craig. Hand-tooled leather goods occupy a unique place in American history, especially utilitarian items like horse saddles, bridles, and other tack used throughout the ‘Old West’ during the 19th century. One well-known style developed in the West and still popular today is the distinctive, floral Sheridan Style. The meticulously drawn Sheridan designs on these Filson pieces take hours of painstaking effort and extensive hand-tooling to complete. All of the work is done at the Filson Restoration Department & Workshop in Seattle, Washington.
