As part of its 160th anniversary celebrations, TAG Heuer is releasing a series of redesigned Carrera chronographs inspired by the original 1963 racing watch. The latest in this series is the Carrera Sport Chronograph Collection, four flagship models powered by the sophisticated in-house Calibre Heuer 02 movement.
With shorter lugs for enhanced comfort, the new chronographs 44 mm stainless-steel cases feature alternating polished and brushed finishes that make the watch appear thinner and sleeker. Slight beveling and better integration of the glass also improves the watches profile. The dial of the Carrera Sport Chrono has a circular brushed finish and is available in deep blue with a matching ceramic bezel, muted olive green with a stainless-steel bezel or one of two black versions, each with a black ceramic bezel.
The standout piece from these new models is the black and rose gold Carrera Sport Chronograph. The crown and push buttons are made from solid 18K rose gold, while the black ceramic bezel is filled with rose-gold style lacquer – a first for TAG. The oscillating weight of the movement, visible through the sapphire crystal case-back, is fashioned from black PVD-coated brass with rose gold printing. This Carrera comes on a classic black leather strap.
The Carrera Sport Chronograph Collection ($5,757.00–$6,550.00) is available now at tagheuer.com. This series will be followed in September by four more Carrera novelties and two additional anniversary models before the end of the year.
