Nike’s N7 Fund supports organizations that provide sport and physical activity programming to youth in Indigenous communities. Since 2009, the Fund has awarded more than $7.5 million in grants to 259 communities and organizations in North America. This summers Nike N7 collection features patterns and colors inspired by the heritage plants and the traditional methods of healing that unite the communities served by the Fund, across the vastly different regions that Indigenous peoples call home. Created by a Diné (Navajo) designer, the arrow-inspired patterns used throughout the line represent continuous forward momentum and strength in numbers. The colors draw from the soft, pastel tones of medicinal plants like aloe, yucca, wild rose, dandelion and prickly pear. The summer N7 collection includes apparel and new versions of the popular Kyrie 6 and Air Max 90.
The patterns and symbols on the Kyrie 6 N7 ($130.00) basketball shoe reflect Kyrie Irving’s personal journey and connection to his indigenous roots. The mountain graphic on the upper references Irving’s Sioux ancestry – through the Brooklyn Nets star’s mother – and stands for his Lakota name, Hela or Little Mountain. Available June 21 at nike.com.
The color reveal suede trim on the Nike Air Max 90 N7 ($130.00) lets you create a 1-of-a-kind design while the Waffle outsole, stitched overlays and classic TPU accents stay true to the shoes running roots. To finish it off, Nike Air cushioning insures additional and support. Available June 21 at nike.com.
