New Balance recently extended its 90s inspired X range with the introduction the of X-Racer, a lightweight, functional sneaker ideal for all-day wear. While the range started with the popular X-90, a chunky update of the 99x series, the X-Racer was designed as a streamlined update of lesser-known 90s running shoes. Bodega decided to flip the script. The Bodega x New Balance X-Racer “All Terrain” replaces the featherweight, mesh/synthetic overlay construction with a robust mix of suede, ripstop and nylon webbing, plus rope laces and a detachable, snap-on nylon tongue strap. The new X-Racer “All Terrain” is part of a larger capsule with co-branded track bottoms, tees, hoodies, vests and shorts – some made with vintage East German rain camouflage fabric.
