Marni SS20 Limited Edition Hand-Painted Poplin Shirt

Marni’s creative director Francesco Risso used his SS20 runway show as a platform to raise awareness of the fashion industry’s impact on the environment. He presented a mix of slightly psychedelic patterns and painterly prints inspired by an imaginary affliction in a lush tropical jungle. A version of this multicolored shirt featured in the show. The final product is cut from white cotton poplin and decorated with a hand-painted tropical beach scene by Risso and his team in the Marni studio. Available in a limited run of only 50 shirts, the decorations fauvist style is deliberately naive, with aggressive brush strokes depicting a litter strewn beach – putting the collections message at the center of the design.
