John Varvatos’ rock ‘n roll aesthetic informs every aspect of his brand – from collections and store design, to capsule collections and ad campaigns. Since launching in 1999, the menswear designer has enlisted Gary Clark Jr., Green Day, Chris Cornell, Iggy Pop, Paul Weller, Led Zeppelin, and others for campaigns and special projects. You can now add pioneering punk group the Misfits to the list.
Formed in the late 1970s with frontman Glen Danzig, bassist Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle, the Misfits’ influence on punk, metal and modern rock is significant. While countless bands credit them as an influence, the power of the bands visual identity and ubiquitous Fiend graphic turned them into a merchandising machine that sold more t-shirts than albums.
John Varvatos showcases the bands iconic graphics with a four piece capsule. The slimmed-down, punk silhouette of the studded leather Misfits Biker Jacket ($998.00) anchors the collection. The fan favorite Fiend Club logo adorns the front flap pocket of the cotton Field Jacket ($498.00), with the Fiend skull graphic across the back. Finally, the vintage style Misfits Fiend Tee ($118.00) and oversized logo Tee ($118.00) rounds out the limited edition collection.
