Running in Vancouver is a disparate experience, a dense urban landscape wedged between the vast Pacific Ocean and the North Shore Mountains. The ASICS x Reigning Champ Vancouver Edition is inspired by wet-weather runs through this coastal cityscape and on the Sea to Sky Corridor trails – an ascent from coastal shores to forest-covered mountains.
Five key peaks of the Sea to Sky Corridor serve as the 13-piece collection’s primary graphic, woven into and printed on running pants, shorts, tops, and waterproof shells as topographical maps and rocky textures. For this second collaboration, the performance pieces are made with Merino wool, Polartec Alpha Direct and other fabrics engineered to provided the necessary ventilation and protection. Footwear – including exclusive versions of the Gel-Quantum 360™ 5 Trail and Gel-Cumulus™ 21 G-TX – is readied for rain-soaked environments with GORE-TEX™ and ripstop nylon panels. The collection’s overall color palette reflects the muted beauty of a stormy Vancouver day.
