Before canvas sneakers stepped on a basketball court and before the Chuck Taylor All Star became a global sales phenomena, the Converse Rubber Shoe Company started trading in 1909 with a line of ten rubber galoshes. During the World War II Converse shifted production to canvas training boots, rubber military boots, weatherized gear, reversible camouflage ponchos and other items needed to support American troops. This bit of company history shaped the second Converse Mountain Club capsule.
The seasonal collection brings back the Chuck Taylor MC18, introduced last year and inspired by the Extreme Cold Weather Boot, a rubber military boot produced by Converse in the 1950s. The line also reintroduces the Converse Bosey, a 1940s design with a rugged toe guard added for additional traction and protection. Rounding out the offering is the Chuck Taylor All Star (CTAS) Lugged Winter shoe, which features a lugged outsole, GORE-TEX inner bootie and soft fleece lining.
The Chuck Taylor MC18 and Bosey MC will be available November 7 from converse.com. The Chuck 70 Bosey and CTAS Lugged Winter is available now on converse.com.
