Alpha Industries is launching a series of collaborations to celebrate its 60th anniversary. Collaborations with J.Crew and Atelier & Repairs will follow the new three-piece collection from denim brand 3sixteen. The 2019 Alpha Industries x 3sixteen capsule is the second anniversary collaboration between the two brands – last year 3sixteen released a line of exclusive Alpha outerwear pieces to mark the 15th anniversary of the denim focused lifestyle brand.
For their sophomore collaboration 3sixteen brought back the M-59 fishtail parka – the best-selling style from the first collab – and added two customer favorites: a heavyweight t-shirt and tapered chino. The result is a head-to-toe, made in the USA look that highlights cornerstone pieces from both brands.
The Alpha x 3sixteen M-59 Fishtail Parka ($550.00) is an updated version of the M-51 fishtail worn by the US Army during the Korean War. 3Sixteen redesigned Alpha’s pattern and fit while retaining all the best details and the functionality you’d expect from a milspec garment. Sewn in a natural undyed Herringbone Twill and finished with a natural garment dye process courtesy of Green Matters Natural Dye House in rural Pennsylvania, the jacket features Alpha’s trademark woven drawcords, leather cord stays, metal snaps and a branded two-way zipper.
Rounding out the look, the Alpha Industries x 3sixteen T-Shirt ($65.00) and Herringbone Chino ($265.00) feature a military-style tyvek tag sewn on the bottom right hip of the t-shirt and on the inside of the waistband of the chino. Both pieces are treated with the same natural garment dye process as the M-59 parka. The iron dye is combined with a tree bark tannin to give the garments a washed-out grey color. The natural inconsistencies from garment to garment make each item in the collection one of a kind.
