Tull and Josh Price are doubling down on their commitment to slow, sustainable fashion. The Australian brothers founded New York City-based FEIT in 2005 as a reaction to the frenetic pace of production and consumption in a footwear market saturated with low quality shoes made with synthetic materials. Emphasizing this goal, FEIT’s Fall 2019 Collection “is an attack on the mentality of mass consumption.”
The stars of the first drop are a pair of rugged hiker boots built to withstand the stress of modern life with hammered brass welt-caps at points of high-wear. Inspired by 20th century combat boots, the lugged Vibram soles of the Metal Military Hiker ($1,150.00) offer better traction in snow and ice while thick leather rands protect against salt and slush – limited edition of 30. The Metal Unlined Hiker ($950.00) is a pared-down take on the classic alpine hiker with industrial accents, available in a limited edition of 36 pairs.
Each pair is hand-sewn by a single craftsman from start to finish, ensuring a level of quality that cannot be achieved with mass production. The one-piece vegetable-dyed Italian leather uppers are sewn directly to the midsole before being cemented to the outsole – allowing the boots to be resoled if needed.
