The new Seiko Prospex SNJ028 diver is a modern interpretation of the Japanese watchmakers 1982 Hybrid Dive Watch – with one serious improvement, a solar-powered battery with a 6-month power reserve. Fueled by light and Seiko’s H851 solar caliber, the SNJ028 requires no battery changes and can run for six months on a full charge. The design remains faithful to the 80s original with a distinctive 47.8mm matte black case with a one-way rotating bezel and rose gold accents. Inside, there’s an alarm, calendar, analogue and digital displays, and LumiBrite hands and markers. Water-resistant to 200 meters (660 feet), the SNJ028 meets ISO standards and is suitable for scuba diving. In this case, the squeal is better than the original.
The Prospex SNJ028 ($550.00) is available now exclusively from seikousa.com.
