President’s and Roden Gray created a capsule collection for Summer 2019 inspired by the versatile lifestyles of the Pacific Northwest. Featuring custom fabrics sourced from Japan and Italy, the focus of the capsule is a custom tigerstripe camouflage. The Vietnam War era tigerstripe is descended from the French Army TAP47 lizard pattern, an experimental pattern developed for jungle warfare during the Indochina War and later adopted by the South Vietnamese Marines. In 1964 the pattern was adopted by US Special Forces. After the war tigerstripe camo made its way stateside on veterans boonie hats and M-65 jackets and within a few years it was a youth style staple and peripheral trend.
For SS19, President’s added hits of navy and indigo to the horizontal brush-stroke pattern of their Tiger Camo Glass Jacket – a Roden Gray exclusive. The capsule also includes a logo T-shirt with beading detail, cashmere blend crewnecks and jungle ready cargo pants, all made in the President’s factory in Florence, Italy.
