Tricker’s SS19 ‘Monkey’ Capsule

Popular with different youth cultures in 1960s, 70s and 80s, the “monkey boot” is based on a WWII era standard issue Czechoslovakian army boot. The styles durability and affordability made them ideal for foot soldiers. In the 1960s British mods adopted monkey boots – along with the Harrington Jacket and Levis jeans – giving them a new lease on life. In the late 70s and 80s they were adopted by Skinheads and Punks before regaining popularity in the 1990s during the Britpop wave.

For Spring/Summer 2019 Tricker’s updated this perennially popular style with a new version of their Ethan monkey boot. Made in their Northampton factory with a lighter Vibram Morflex sole and Goodyear welt technology, the Ethan (£425.00 / $559.00) is available in gold or brown waxed leather. To compliment the Ethan Tricker’s designed a sporty leather monkey shoe with a thin white rubber sole. The Dominic (£395.00 / $520.00), a new style for SS19, is available in dark brown, acorn and off-white.
