Omega’s new Speedmaster “Ultraman” is a tribute to the 1967 Omega Moonwatch (below) used in the live-action Japanese TV show “RETURN OF ULTRAMAN.” Series creator Eiji Tsuburaya and his production team choose the Moonwatch, attracted by its uniquely finished dial and orange seconds hand, for the ‘monster-fighting kit’ used by the shows hero Hideki Go and MAT (Monster Attack Team). The association made the 1967 Moonwatch a hit with collectors, so… time for a reboot. The ’67 chronograph is reborn in a Speedy Tuesday limited edition run of just 2,012 timepieces.
Powered by the Omega Calibre 1861, the Speedmaster Ultraman chronograph has the exact shape and shade of orange as the original along with a new black stripe – which perfectly matches the suits worn by the Monster Attack Team. The 42 mm stainless steel case is secured with black and orange NATO strap.
