The 2018 NikeCourt Paris Tennis Collection aims to balance the elegance of Paris with the intense rough-and-tumble of clay court tennis. To create looks that stand out against the burnt orange clay of Roland-Garros Nike designers started with a full palette, eliminating whatever was getting lost before settling on a a series of bold blues. Designers added dimension to the colors using rich textures while making sure to supply players with tough, high-performance apparel and footwear.
“Despite the fact that they may get dirty, we want them to feel and look beautiful and powerful” says Abby Swancutt, Apparel Design Director for NikeCourt. “Not only does it provide anti-cling and breathability where the athletes need it, the Paris Tennis Collection takes the color from something flat to three-dimensional.”
The NikeCourt Paris Tennis collection is available now on nike.com.
Rafael Nadal, the most decorated clay-court player in history, will wear NikeCourt AeroReact Rafa top, Flex Ace shorts and Air Zoom Cage 3 HC Tennis Shoe (all below) as he competes for his 11th French Open title. “As a design team, we wanted Rafa to feel powerful on the clay, and the flooded color really helps that because it’s overwhelming; it makes him look like a force of nature,” says Swancutt.
