Paul Smith’s Red Ear collection is a homage to Japanese denim and a shared appreciation for artisan production and American workwear. Red Ear utilizes expert weavers practicing traditional indigo dying techniques to create exclusive fabrics in silhouettes inspired by a mash-up of ‘Amekaji’ and classic Japanese style. For Spring/Summer 2018 the workwear vibe comes through in a heavyweight Chore Jacket crafted in 14oz raw denim and vintage inspired cotton-twill carpenter pants with contrasting patch panels. Smith modernizes classic Japanese style with an indigo-dyed jacquard denim kimono with patch pockets and corozo buttons of the cuffs. The entire collection is made in Japan and demonstrates Smith’s devotion to quality, comfort and design.
