Carl Ollson and Felix von Bahder are working to reduce waste in the fashion industry through upcycling. Inspired by a heady mix of environmentalism and punk aesthetics, the Swedish duo launched Deadwood in 2012 as “a statement of rebellion against worn out dogmas.” Focused on transforming post consumer waste into vintage inspired leather garments and accessories, all of Deadwood’s leather jackets are patched by hand using 100% recycled leather. The slight variations inherent in leather and minor signs of wear give each jacket a unique patina and a character all its own.
Carl and Felix want Deadwood to remain “anti-establishment and counter-cultural.” Instead of chasing trends they release just two collections a year focusing on quality over quantity. The most punk thing about Deadwood is in fact its rejection of the ever accelerating consumption cycle and idea of fashion as a disposable commodity.
